Under the Hospital Price Transparency rule that came into effect on January 1, 2021, hospitals were publicly disclosing all types of standard charges including payer-specific negotiated charges, de-identified minimum/maximum negotiated charges, and discounted cash prices as mandated. The challenge our client faced was ingesting and utilizing this huge volume of pricing transparency data that was being generated as Machine-readable Files. Comprehending the MRF data using advanced analytics and visualizations was critical for insights and informed decision-making by patients, payers, and healthcare providers.
